You know you are getting old when your nephew gets accepted to BYU. It seems like just yesterday I left. Here are some words of wisdom from your loving aunt...
- Don't get a girlfriend freshman year; that is way too boring
- Don't get married until you are at least 24
- Get an all sports pass...it's worth the $
- Live in the dorms as a freshman
- Eating buffet style at the Cannon Center daily will be one of the best decisions of your life
- Study hard in the day and play at night
- Do intramural sports
- Study in the library
- Don't mess up your GPA freshman year and spend the other three years trying to recover it
- Cafe Rio should be enjoyed to its fullest
- Take advantage of the best snow on earth and go snowboarding frequently
- Pick a degree/career path that requires specific job skills & education in a field you can get a job easily (i.e. medical, accounting etc.)
- Make friends with people who go boating at Lake Powell in the summer
- Stay away from girls who have never had a job in their life
- Enjoy it while it lasts...it goes way too fast.
Did I miss anything fellow BYU alumni?

Great advice. I agree with all of it accept I didn't eat in the cannon cafeteria daily (although I would join you frequently!)--dining plus is the way to go.
ReplyDeleteI didn't have the privilege to attend BYU, but sounds like great advice to me. Nicely worded, Darci. What a great picture of Tyler, by the way. Lookin' sharp!!
ReplyDeleteI would only add...make sure to check out Comedy Sportz. Hilarious! Oh, avoid Walmart in Orem at any cost. It's always crazy.
ReplyDeleteI need to add some motherly advice...CALL YOUR MOM EACH DAY!!! She can "walk" with you to class.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Tyler! Very good advice Darci. Also, buy a mountain bike (let's go riding Tyler!), ride it often and don't sell it after your freshman year (one of my biggest regrets). Take beginning guitar. Always say a prayer before going into the testing center. Go to every BYU home football game. Register early for classes and find out who the best teachers are.
