Feeling Old

You know you are getting old when your nephew gets accepted to BYU. It seems like just yesterday I left. Here are some words of wisdom from your loving aunt...
  1. Don't get a girlfriend freshman year; that is way too boring
  2. Don't get married until you are at least 24
  3. Get an all sports pass...it's worth the $
  4. Live in the dorms as a freshman
  5. Eating buffet style at the Cannon Center daily will be one of the best decisions of your life
  6. Study hard in the day and play at night
  7. Do intramural sports
  8. Study in the library
  9. Don't mess up your GPA freshman year and spend the other three years trying to recover it
  10. Cafe Rio should be enjoyed to its fullest
  11. Take advantage of the best snow on earth and go snowboarding frequently
  12. Pick a degree/career path that requires specific job skills & education in a field you can get a job easily (i.e. medical, accounting etc.)
  13. Make friends with people who go boating at Lake Powell in the summer
  14. Stay away from girls who have never had a job in their life
  15. Enjoy it while it lasts...it goes way too fast.
Did I miss anything fellow BYU alumni?
Congrats Tyler...you will LOVE your education and experience at BYU! We're excited for you and looking forward to being closer to you now. Watch out BYU women...Tyler is coming to Provo!

Road trip

Last week I took a quick trip to LA to visit with Karyna & Paige. Karyna had a baby in December and I hadn't met her yet. Her little girl Macy is really cute and it was fun to finally meet her. We went to the beach, shopped at the Promenade, and visited. I already forgot how bad the traffic and smog is in LA. It took me six hours to drive home because I left at a bad time and hit LA traffic. Can't say I miss the traffic, but I do miss the beach, Karyna, and Paige:)

This n' That

First of all, let me just say that we are liking it here in Las Vegas. It is starting to feel more like home as we are making some good friends and getting settled. We love our ward and our stake here. Every time I come home from church meetings I leave feeling uplifted and wanting to be a better person. There are so many great leaders and people in our ward. Everyone at church has been so nice and welcoming. One thing I like about our ward is that everyone is friends regardless of marriage status, number of children, age, etc. We were invited to a dinner party last weekend hosted by the Relief Society president. She is one of the kindest, funniest, spiritual, and most sincere ladies I have ever met. There were about ten families/couples there of all different ages. We had a delicious dinner followed by a game with lots of laughs.

The next day was Women's Conference put on by our stake. It went from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and the conference consisted of over 30 different classes. I went to yoga, self defense, budgeting & finance, shopping smart, turning up the heat in your marriage, raising children to serve the Lord, and family reunions. All of the classes were awesome! There were so many great classes to choose from it was hard to choose which ones to go to! The conference was catered by Bucca Di Beppo for lunch. I had a great day going to classes, socializing, eating, and learning. The best part about it was that it was free!

We hope we can find a house in the neighborhood we are living in right now since we like the area. I am really happy that Niel is loving his job and we are getting more settled. Now we just have to get out of this 725 sq/ft. apartment. It is starting to feel a little claustrophobic:)

Bowling

We went bowling for the first time in years at Red Rock Casino. I was horrible...naturally, but we still had fun. Photobucket

Niel turned up the heat on the second game and totally dominated. Here is Niel with his game face.
