A little worried...

There were six layoffs at work today. There have been quite a few employees who have been laid off in the last year. I feel very grateful that I still have a job. With that said I am a little worried about my job security now. They haven't made any cuts in my department yet but I am worried we might be next. I am the newest employee in my department.

My hours were cut today along with most other employees. I now work 72 hours in a pay period instead of 80. So pretty much that raise I just got is definitely cancelled out. Still grateful I have a job though...

A White Christmas

Well I have been a little behind on blogging. The last couple of weeks leading up to Christmas were filled with work, church callings, Christmas parties, and preparing for the holidays.

On Tuesday the 23rd I took a half day off of work and we drove to Utah for Christmas. It was such a great feeling to know that I wouldn't have to work for almost a week! We arrived late Tuesday night and got to visit with Niel's sister Sonya before she took off to Hawaii.

Christmas eve I did some last minute shopping with Amy Gifford. Then Niel and our brother-in-law Aaron and I hit the slopes! It was so great to be snowboarding again after two years. Christmas Eve we had home-made soup that Aaron made. Later we sang Christmas songs while Aaron played the piano. We topped Christmas eve off with some dance dance revolution:)

Christmas day we opened presents, ate food, and went to see "Marley and Me". I thought it was pretty cute and funny.
Friday I hit some day after Christmas sales. Then we went snowboarding again. There was so much powder! They got 7" of snow that morning. It was FREEZING though. That night we went to Costa Vida for dinner with Brittany and Adam. It was so good to see them! The sweet pork burrito tasted amazing. We really miss Costa vida here in CA. Then we went to dessert with our friends Jim and Amy at Applebees. We have great friends. I really miss them all...
My adorable nephews: Dylan, McKay, Austin, and Isaac
Saturday we met up with my sister Jennifer, and brother Brannen and their families at Thanksgiving point for lunch. That evening we went to Salt Lake City to my Grandma Davis' house for dinner and to spend the night. My parents flew in that night. We spent the evening with my parents, Grandma, brother Paul, brother Brannen, and their families. Lindsay, Paul, and cute little Ben My sister-in-law Tiffany with son Isaac
My dad and Dylan
On Sunday after church I went to dinner at my Aunt Sharon's house. (Niel spent the afternoon with his mom). I was able to see my cousin Shaun who got back from his mission in November. That night my parents and I met up with Niel's family at temple square to see the lights.
On Monday we had lunch with Niel's family at Zupas and then drove home. The trip went by SO fast. Before I knew it I was back at work today. blah.

It was a great trip. Utah got tons of snow while we were there! It was fun to be in a winter wonderland for Christmas (California was about 65 degrees and sunny today). We ate lots of good food, reminisced of our experiences at BYU, and most importantly got to spend time with family and friends.

More chairs?

We signed up to feed the missionaries. We thought we were only feeding two but then they called to let Niel know there were going to be six of them. We only have four chairs-hence sitting on the floor and couches.

Luckily Niel has a school break so he was able to "cook" for all of them. He opened a bunch of canned soups and we had three different types of canned soup! Yes, we are quite the chefs.

Good news...

I got a raise!!! It's nothing to be extremely proud of, but hey...a small raise is better than no raise!

Quick and Dirty of week 12/1/08

Recap on our week last week (excluding the 40 hour work week):

Monday: Dave and Busters with Lindsey, Erick, and Kailey Cortez. I beat Niel in the horse race and the motorcycle race.

Tuesday: Went to the Redlands Temple.

Wednesday: "Who killed Santa" dinner murder mystery at the church for young men and young women's. I ate WAY too much yummy food and didn't come close to figuring out who the murderer was. I was "Elfie" the Elf. I wonder why they chose me to be an elf? Funny.

Thursday: Watched "The Office" and relaxed for the first time all week.

Friday: Dinner at Pick up Stix and watched "Prince Caspian". It was lame...fell asleep.

Saturday: Woke up early, did some kick-butt cleaning and then headed to L.A. to meet up with the technical designer of PacSun for a consultation regarding my swim line. She was VERY rude to me, but helpful in some ways. Looks like I won't be able to launch my line in spring (sore subject). Then I stopped at two malls on the way home both of which were unsuccessful shopping trips (except for the Juicy one-piece swimsuit I bought on clearance that I have had my eye on since June). Got home and we watched Elf for like the 7th time in my life. It's great every time.

Summary: Busy and long week. Don't know where the weekend went. BUT my house is spotless and that feels good. Good night.

PIZZA NIGHT

Sunday we invited our new friends Nicole and Andy over for dinner. Niel and I made homemade pizza. Niel worked at an Italian restaurant in high school where he cooked pizza from scratch. The dough makes a delicious pizza crust. We made four big pizzas (we have been eating pizza all week). We took the risk and tried making a BBQ chicken pizza and it turned out SO good! It was time consuming making all of the pizzas but it was a lot of fun cooking them together!
After dinner we played the Wii that they brought over to our house. We had a good time with Nicole Andy. Yay for new friends!
