Kensie's Baby Blessing

We blessed Kensie on November 7th, 2010 when she was seven weeks old. I just recently got the pictures from the baby blessing so I'm finally posting about it. Kensie was little miss popular and had LOTS of family and friends attend the baby blessing!

We both look really tired. It's because we were.

We had twelve people stay at our house over the weekend! I had been stressing about having that many people at our new, unfurnished, and undecorated house. Where everyone was going to eat, sit, and sleep heavilly weighed on my mind. We didn't have a dining room table or a suitable couch for that many guests because our furniture shopping attempts were unsuccessful...so we used folding chairs and a fold up table instead. My parents were total lifesavers and basically hosted the event all weekend even though it was at my house. They went grocery shopping, cooked, cleaned, and regulated. I have amazing parents. It's a good thing they came down early because I was not prepared at all to host that many people.

Here are some pictures from the weekend...

Kensie got lots of attention from both her Grandmas! My parents were here for a few days before the blessing and Niel's mom stayed for a week after the blessing. Kensie had a hard time adjusting to not being held all the time after everyone left!

The weekend ending up being a great time with family and friends! We even got some work done on our house with the help of Steve, my dad, and Devin. We got our garage door opener installed, a utility sink installed in the laundry room, all the screens put on our windows, our shutters tightened, and the satellite removed from the house.

On Saturday we went to my Aunt Marilyn's house and then we had a picnic at the park next to our house. Afterwards we went hot tubbing.

Sunday was the blessing day. Niel gave Kensie a beautiful blessing. Afterwards everyone came over to our house for dinner and birthday cake since my birthday was the following day. It was a very memorable day for our family. Thank you to all of our family and friends who came to share this special day with us!

I stressed about hosting everyone from both sides of the family too for Eli's blessing! There's no way you can do it AND try to figure out life with a newborn (especially a colicky one!)...the exact same thing happened, my parents pretty much did everything and I just tried to survive. :) Thank goodness for amazing parents! What would we do without them!?

Darci your house looks so big and so nice. I have been trying to think of a way for us to get down there soon so we can see you guys. Blessing days are stressful. But Kensie looks so cute.

We were so greatful to be a part of Kensie's blessing, especially to contemplate the words that Niel used in the prayer. He was truly inspired! I hope you noted in your journal some of her special blessings he gave her. Of course the family, friends, food, visiting and love shared by us all were wonderful as well. It is such a great blessing in our lives to have children and grandchildren who live the gospel and show love and honor to one another! We love you all!
