We're having a...

GIRL!!!

We are SO excited but I can hardly believe it! I thought for sure we were having a boy. I am still in shock. I said to the ultrasound tech., "What?! A girl?! Are you SURE?!" Niel wasn't surprised at all since he thought we were having girl all along (he had a dream before we got pregnant that it was a girl). His response, "I told you so."

A week before we found out, I found a girl name I really liked and started day dreaming about how fun it would be to have a little girl. Then I was reminded that I should prepare myself mentally for having a boy because our chances of having a girl were slim for a couple of reasons: 1. My five older siblings all had boys first 2. I have thirteen nephews and only two nieces. 3. My mom would get really sick when she was pregnant with her girls so I figured it was a boy since I haven't been sick 4. I always thought I would have a boy first for some reason... Well I was wrong and Niel was right! I am completely ok with being wrong though:)

Here is her profile, little pot belly, and tiny legs curled up
Little foot!
This ultrasound was such an awesome experience. It was amazing to watch our little girl move around. The ultrasound tech zoomed in on her feet, hands, and profile. At one point she was drinking and we could see her little mouth opening and closing! She arched her back and turned away from us while we were doing the ultrasound. I got a little emotional as we watched her because it was as if she already had her own little personality. This ultrasound made things seem so real!

Let the planning and spending begin! I can't wait to meet our little girl!!!

Modest Swimsuits!

It's that time of year again...

SWIMSUIT SEASON!!!...

In case you forgot I have a minor obsession with swimsuits (remember this & this). This year I have taken my obsession to a whole new level. I started my own business selling modest swimwear and modest clothing. As of right now, I carry LimeRicki Swimwear and soon I will be carrying DownEast Basics clothing line. I chose to carry Lime Ricki swimsuits because they are made with great fabric, they are high quality, they are trendy, and they are modest!

I am placing my second order of the season on Monday so if you or anyone you know would like to order a swimsuit let me know as soon as possible! I usually don't take special orders-usually I sell straight from inventory I have on hand, so here is your chance to order a specific suit! I won't charge you shipping either! My website is still under construction so go to www.limericki.com to look at the suits. Email me at thepinkdesert@gmail.com with your order. If you live in Las Vegas, email me to schedule an appointment to try on the suits or to host a swimwear party!

Spread the word...summer is quickly approaching and we all know that wearing the same swimsuit you wore last year is a serious fashion blunder:)

Confessions of a Pregnant Woman

17 Weeks

It seemed my belly grew exponentially this week...I look 20 weeks pregnant all of the sudden instead of 17. ugh.
  • Basically I am hungry all the time
  • I haven't felt like blogging AT ALL the last couple of months
  • Ok, so the truth is I haven't felt like doing much of anything the last couple of months
  • I can't stand the term 'prego'
  • I've always had a keen sense of smell...but now I have a sniffer like a hound dog...which means...
  • I no longer use perfume, scented lotion, scented hand soaps, or wallflowers.
  • When Niel gets home from work I can't stand how he smells...ya know, the hospital/clinic/rubber glove/sterilization smell
  • I can count on my bathroom break being between 3:30 a.m.-5a.m. every morning
  • I think maternity pants are the ugliest things
  • We've hardly discussed names
  • I've always wanted a boy first, but I will be equally excited if we find out it is a girl
Tomorrow I will be seventeen weeks. I can honestly say that so far my pregnancy has been really good. Before I got pregnant, I prepared myself mentally for the worst because I figured I would get really sick. Compared to what I thought it would be it has been a breeze! I have mostly been really tired but the last two weeks I have had more energy. I would take that any day instead of being sick. I hope the rest of my pregnancy goes this well!

We find out a week from tomorrow if the baby will be a boy or a girl!!! Niel thinks we are having a girl and I think we're having a boy. What do you think? If you haven't voted yet, VOTE!

oh BABY!

Guess what?

We're having a BABY!!!

I'm about thirteen weeks along and due September 23rd!

We are really excited to have a little baby and become a family of three! Overall I have been feeling great. I haven't been nauseous but I've been very tired and don't have much energy. I've already had several doctor appointments, two ultrasounds, and heard the heartbeat! So far, our little guy appears to be healthy! We can't wait to find out what we are having in about a month at my next doctor visit. I will keep you posted! Baby Schurig is on it's way at last!

Feeling Old

You know you are getting old when your nephew gets accepted to BYU. It seems like just yesterday I left. Here are some words of wisdom from your loving aunt...
  1. Don't get a girlfriend freshman year; that is way too boring
  2. Don't get married until you are at least 24
  3. Get an all sports pass...it's worth the $
  4. Live in the dorms as a freshman
  5. Eating buffet style at the Cannon Center daily will be one of the best decisions of your life
  6. Study hard in the day and play at night
  7. Do intramural sports
  8. Study in the library
  9. Don't mess up your GPA freshman year and spend the other three years trying to recover it
  10. Cafe Rio should be enjoyed to its fullest
  11. Take advantage of the best snow on earth and go snowboarding frequently
  12. Pick a degree/career path that requires specific job skills & education in a field you can get a job easily (i.e. medical, accounting etc.)
  13. Make friends with people who go boating at Lake Powell in the summer
  14. Stay away from girls who have never had a job in their life
  15. Enjoy it while it lasts...it goes way too fast.
Did I miss anything fellow BYU alumni?
Congrats Tyler...you will LOVE your education and experience at BYU! We're excited for you and looking forward to being closer to you now. Watch out BYU women...Tyler is coming to Provo!

Road trip

Last week I took a quick trip to LA to visit with Karyna & Paige. Karyna had a baby in December and I hadn't met her yet. Her little girl Macy is really cute and it was fun to finally meet her. We went to the beach, shopped at the Promenade, and visited. I already forgot how bad the traffic and smog is in LA. It took me six hours to drive home because I left at a bad time and hit LA traffic. Can't say I miss the traffic, but I do miss the beach, Karyna, and Paige:)

This n' That

First of all, let me just say that we are liking it here in Las Vegas. It is starting to feel more like home as we are making some good friends and getting settled. We love our ward and our stake here. Every time I come home from church meetings I leave feeling uplifted and wanting to be a better person. There are so many great leaders and people in our ward. Everyone at church has been so nice and welcoming. One thing I like about our ward is that everyone is friends regardless of marriage status, number of children, age, etc. We were invited to a dinner party last weekend hosted by the Relief Society president. She is one of the kindest, funniest, spiritual, and most sincere ladies I have ever met. There were about ten families/couples there of all different ages. We had a delicious dinner followed by a game with lots of laughs.

The next day was Women's Conference put on by our stake. It went from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and the conference consisted of over 30 different classes. I went to yoga, self defense, budgeting & finance, shopping smart, turning up the heat in your marriage, raising children to serve the Lord, and family reunions. All of the classes were awesome! There were so many great classes to choose from it was hard to choose which ones to go to! The conference was catered by Bucca Di Beppo for lunch. I had a great day going to classes, socializing, eating, and learning. The best part about it was that it was free!

We hope we can find a house in the neighborhood we are living in right now since we like the area. I am really happy that Niel is loving his job and we are getting more settled. Now we just have to get out of this 725 sq/ft. apartment. It is starting to feel a little claustrophobic:)

Bowling

We went bowling for the first time in years at Red Rock Casino. I was horrible...naturally, but we still had fun. Photobucket

Niel turned up the heat on the second game and totally dominated. Here is Niel with his game face.
