Youth Conference '09

Niel and I helped at this year's youth conference "I Believe." About 130 youth between the ages of 14-18 attended. It was held at Big Bear's Camp Hinckley last Friday and Saturday.

I got off work early on Friday so that we could drive kids up the mountain. All the kids stayed in cabins with bunk beds. Niel and I had our own little room with two twin beds (see the picture above). We had great meals all weekend long. Friday night the kids were divided into groups and performed skits. Saturday there were workshop rotations which included different speakers and an outdoor activity.

I helped with the outdoor "Catch the Spirit" workshop. This workshop consisted of various relays including passing the lifesaver with a toothpick, passing an orange, group run, donut eating, and several others. It was so funny to watch them pass the toothpick and the orange. I was out in the sun all day and got a pretty nice sunburn/tan.

This is Patty, Taylor, and Alex on the car ride up. Poor Niel was stuck with us girls as we blasted music and sang along.
Taylor, Alex and I decided to bring the lawn chairs to the edge of the mountain to catch some rays after lunch. Very relaxing.

After the workshops on Saturday we went back down the mountain to the church to have a very nice dinner, slide show, and dance.
